The Office

7:00 AM

The office, not to be confused with The Office, (although I feel like Dwight K. Schrute is my inner weirdo spirit animal) is coming along nicely.

When we began the house project, what is now the office was on its way to becoming a bedroom.  The previous owner (who had purchased the house to flip), had built a closet in the room, but we liked the back bedroom better for a guest room.

I'm not sure why we didn't save that burgundy curtain and the hunter green walls... (sarcasm)

This room needed the least amount of work.  Most of the time spent in here was on cosmetic things, like pulling off drywall and exposing the bricks on the fireplace.

We also took out the closet, and started fresh with new drywall.  It was a lot of fun seeing all the color choices beneath, including some pretty horrendous wallpaper.  As I had mentioned in a previous post, we also had to drop the ceilings a bit to level out the room.  Since the house is 120 years old, the rooms weren't quite square.

The picture below is a 'before and after' prior to painting and installing baseboards.

Aaaaaaand here it is today!

The painter was in the middle of the first coat when I got my pictures, but the final result will be this color:
Sherwin Williams Gentleman's Gray

It's so exciting seeing that first coat of paint go on the wall!
