Drywall

7:00 AM

Did everyone have a good Thanksgiving?

I most certainly enjoyed the time off and getting to catch up on some much needed rest!

We've had some exciting changes at the farmhouse since my last post!  Work has been divided into old section/new section, mainly because of the need to rebuild the laundry room.  As of Saturday, the old section's completed projects are:

  • plumbing
  • electrical
  • heating and air
  • hallway floor patching and bathroom subfloor
  • DRYWALLLLLLL!

When we purchased the house, all of the rooms had drywall, and we exposed the tongue and groove boards underneath.  Since we also divided one of the rooms into 3 smaller spaces, we could really only rely on the framing to understand how those spaces would look.  It wasn't much of a surprise to see the walls covered in drywall again, but it was to see the new hallway ceiling height, as well as the master bath/closet/guest bath division.

Pictured above is the master bathroom.  The half wall in the bottom left corner is where the shower will be.  It will have a glass door and half glass wall, plus subway tile on the full walls.  On the other side of the shower wall is the potty room.  We are planning on putting a claw foot tub in front of the window (as well as blinds).  The doorway in the center of the photo is the entry to the master closet, and the wall to the right of it will have our vanity.

Below is the guest room!  We are planning on pulling off the remaining plaster from around the fireplace surround (which we will paint a glossy black), and putting the mantle back so you can see the bricks from the original fireplace.

Now.....I have to start thinking about paint colors. 😬
