Feeling Inspired

7:20 AM

I thought today I would share a little of my "pinspiration" for the farmhouse!  I'm so glad Pinterest exists and I'm able to save my ideas in one location.

This week our contractor is doing some demo that's above our skill/comfort level, such as removing the fireplaces and beginning the structural supports under the house.  So while that's happening, let's look at my ideas for the kitchen and hallway!

Here's a shot of what the kitchen looked like before:

And here's my inspiration photo:

We've purchased black stainless appliances, which I think will contrast nicely with the white cabinets.  We also plan to do a custom hood cover using stained wood, a double oven, and an apron front sink.

Now on to the hallway!

Here is a photo from halfway through the demo:

This view is from the front door looking towards the back of the house.  My "pinspiration" photo is from the back of the house looking towards the front door.

In the hallway, we plan on keeping the shiplap walls, which we will paint white. The hallway will have the board and batten on the lower half of the wall, and the original shiplap on top. We've already got the church pew for the hallway; now to find a statement chandelier!

I'm excited to finally be at the point where the reconstructing work is beginning.  I can really see the vision of the house, and having to wait on demo and schedules has been a struggle.  Pinterest, is that you I hear calling?

  1. I'm on the hunt for a chandelier as well, but for my dining room. They are so expensive!
